Mova is a fitness assistance application designed to address the post-covid era when people are less motivated to go out to the gym and the lack of a dedicated person to correct their posture.

Since one of our members was in China, we worked with many major remote collaboration platforms such as Miro, Google Doc and Figma through this project.

‍

This is a collaborative project. During this 3-month project, I ...

  • Worked with teams to research and communicate user pain points to understand user motivations, triggers, desires and goals.
  • Created and design user flows, wireframes, user interfaces, and interactive prototypes, etc.
  • Lead and design user Interface and prototype.
  • Developed user experience in line with project goals, and test with users.
  • Planned project milestones and schedule.

Starting Point

After Covid, everyone's lifestyle has changed in a big or small way, and fitness is certainly no exception.

In the initial group discussion, we collectively listed several pain points:

  • No motivation to work out. The environment has a huge impact on the will. Without someone else working hard (or someone nearby that you want to attract), you will unconsciously slack off.
  • No one to help correct your posture. It's easy to communicate with a trainer in real time at the gym, but not at home. Improper posture can easily lead to injury.

Research

We completed the quantitative research and qualitative analysis. Then we summarized then through our Affinity Diagram.

  • Questionnaire survey: We obtained a total of 205 questionnaire results. After determining the age range of the audience, we selected the data within the range for focused summary and analysis.
  • Interviews: We conducted in-depth interviews with eight interviewees.
  • Affinity Diagram: Based on the questionnaires and interviews, we categorized and summarized the issues we found.

*Due to the privacy issues involved in the camera, and the placement of the device when working out... we decided not to consider the originally envisioned real-time posture monitoring feature for now.

WireFrame

We planned four User Flows and divided the work to achieve Lo-fi. I was mainly responsible for creating Lofi templates for these four flows.

  • User Flow 1 - Provide assistance/counting during fitness
  • User Flow 2 - Registration and information collection
  • User Flow 3 - Edit Plans
  • User Flow 1.5 - Working out with the watch

Usability Testing (First Round)

Then we did our first round of usability testing base on the Lofi. We made iterations based on the feedback we collected.

  • "The questionnaire in the first-time visit is too long." -πŸ‘‰πŸ»- Shorten the questionnaire.‍
  • "Not sure which posture or set they are currently at." -πŸ‘‰πŸ»- Add a summarizing page to connect each exercise posture.‍
  • "Not motivated enough." -πŸ‘‰πŸ»- Add more progression or outcome information on the app to encourage users to keep up with their workout plans.

Final Screens

After perfecting the wireframe according to the first round of usability testing, we worked together to upgrade Lofi to Hifi.
